# Check if a Number is Odd or Even in R Programming

In this example, a number entered by the user is checked whether it’s an odd number or an even number.

To understand this example, you should have the knowledge of following R programming topics:

## Example: Check Odd and Even Number

```
# Program to check if the input number is odd or even.
# A number is even if division by 2 give a remainder of 0.
# If remainder is 1, it is odd.
num = as.integer(readline(prompt="Enter a number: "))
if((num %% 2) == 0) {
print(paste(num,"is Even"))
} else {
print(paste(num,"is Odd"))
}
```

**Output 1**

Enter a number: 89 [1] "89 is Odd"

**Output 2**

Enter a number: 0 [1] "0 is Even"

In this program, we ask the user for the input (an integer) which is stored in `num` variable.

If the remainder when `num` is divided by 2 equals to 0, it's an even number. If not, it's an odd integer.

This is checked using `if...else`

statement.
